Proper hand position is something that's fairly detailed and I cover it in depth in my flute Academy. But to get you on the right track now - in a nutshell, make sure your fingers are curved.To play high notes quietly on the flute, instead focus on the flexibility of your embouchure, using that idea of pushing forward for the higher notes and pulling back for the lower notes. Make sure your breath is supported, but don’t overblow.
